If you have not heard InBev brewers of Stella Artois and Beck’s are contemplating a $46 billion takeover of Anheuser-Busch. More than just Bud and Bud Light, Anheuser-Busch has over 100 brands (See list) To try and stop the take over Anheuser-Busch is trying to get 50% of Modelo, which makes Corona, to make itself worth more thus halting the takeover. InBev is also looking at SABMiller as a back up plan should the Bud takeover fail. Consolidation seems to be more about distribution and sharing expenses than the actual beer. Do not know if this effects us the average beer lover, but it is very interesting to me. I will be watching this and keep you informed.
