Road Trips for Beer introduces today a guest post from craft-beer blogger Amie Mizell, an IT professional and social media whiz who chronicles some real-life road trips for beer that started as casual conversations on social media sites.

“l’ve known Amie for several months now. In fact, we first met on Twitter,” said Gerard Walen, editor of Road Trips for Beer. “I’ve met her in person at several events, and have followed along online as she chronicled her craft-beer experiences, eventually becoming a homebrewer and now a craft-beer blogger at I’m excited to have her write about her experiences for our site.”

Mizell writes about taking Road Trips for Beer in her home state of Florida, and to Philadelphia and the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. All of these trips were conceived and planned via Tweets, emails and Facebook posts. In all cases, Mizell writes, she cemented real-life friendships that began on social media sites.

“A year ago, I was one of those people who “pooh-poohed” Twitter and used Facebook sparingly. Little did I know what I was missing,” she said. “Twitter brings people together, both in a metaphorical sense and a physical one.”

Amie Mizell works in IT during the day and dreams about beer at night. An avid homebrewer and craft beer geek, she spends many evenings brewing beer, drinking beer, or writing about beer. When not working for the University of Florida or serving beer at Gainesville watering hole Stubbies & Steins, Amie writes for her own blog, Crazy Cat Lady Beer, travels for beer, and enjoys time with her three cats. She is also a contributing writer for Ladies of Craft Beer. She hopes to one day attend brewing school and eventually work in the craft beer industry.

Road Trips for Beer is an online travel magazine dedicated to traveling and the enjoyment of beer. The magazine features information on destinations, itineraries, reviews, beer festivals and brewpubs. You can follow Road Trips for Beer on Twitter and Facebook.
